Well it’s been a pretty active week for the ‘burnt out crew’!

Effective September 6^th 2011, 1-888-burnt-out? has secured the exclusive distribution rights for British Columbia for the Bare Developments Inc. line of LED retrofit panels.

Why is this big news you may ask? Well let me tell you…

Until recently, if a business owner wanted to convert his energy guzzling metal halide or high pressure sodium lighting (typically used in parking lots, car dealerships, gas station canopies, warehouse lighting etc.) to LED, he or she had to invest in all new fixtures with LED light sources in them. The cost of doing this conversion did not make economic sense based on energy and maintenance savings alone.

Bare Developments is a U.S. manufacturer of high grade LED panels that can easily be retrofitted into existing High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting fixtures. The panels use only top of the line Cree LEDs and the fact that they are manufactured in the U.S. ensures that the necessary quality control checks and balances are in place.

By utilizing these retrofit panels, businesses can make the switch to LED lighting for a fraction of the cost that existed only a short while ago. Energy consumption is reduced by at least 80% from older technologies and future maintenance savings are also substantial in that lamps and ballasts need not be replaced any longer. The LED panels have a rated life of 100,000 hours, which at 12 hours of operation per day equates to a little over 23 years!

LED lighting is definitely the light source of the future. The quality of the product is there and now finally, so are the costs that make this product economically feasible.

Adding to the success of this week’s announcement is the fact that as of September 8^th, BC Hydro has approved and listed our Bare LED panels in their e-catalogue which means that business owners will receive financial incentives if they make the switch to LED using this product. The rebates from BC Hydro equate to approximately 15% of the up-front costs to do the conversion. In most cases this will bring the payback period down to 3 years or less. Further to this reduced payback period are the fact that the total savings, when multiplied over the life of the product, become very substantial. As an example, for a medium sized car dealership to make the switch, the total savings over the life of the product are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars!
