Well here it is…the first blog of the New Year. And what a great time to step back and make sure that your sign is sending the right message. You truly only have one chance to make that first impression and your street front signage must provide a true impression of what is taking place inside of your business.
Your sign display might simply need sign service to bring it back to the state that it should be in to project a favorable impression of your business. Or perhaps the message that it is sending is now outdated. Maybe your clientele has changed over the years, or your product lines. Maybe the sign simply needs a good old fashioned cleaning! Or maybe it is time to convert your signage to energy efficient technology with an LED retrofit?
Our traveling field agent, Jerry Signfield, was out and about and found some hair raising examples of poor signage displays that definitely send the wrong or confusing message.

Like all good entrepreneurs, Chris Jordon is a survivor.
When circumstance forced him to reinvent his sign manufacturing career of a quarter century, Jordon turned his industry upside down and sideways to find a new niche. Last year, he started 1-888-Burnt-Out, a sign service company whose technicians show up in uniform, well-trained, and at times convenient to business even if that means starting work at 2: 30 a.m.
The last four or five months have been tough on Jordon's fledgling business.
"My business model of cleancut uniformed guys has certainly been well received," Jordon said. "What hasn't worked is it's been uncertain economic times. There's something going on out there. People just go 'I don't have the $500 to fix my sign right now.' People are holding on tight to their wallets. I would say small businesses are having a very uncertain time out there."
